How can I alleviate dry, tight feeling skin?

During this time of year my skin is always so dry and tight feeling. I use gentle soap in the shower, then I put baby oil or baby oil gel on my skin afterwards. My skin feels OK for a couple hours at best. I also use Aquaphor (http://www.amazon.com/Aquaphor-Healing-O... instead of lotion. It has a consistency like Vaseline. Its not just certain areas of skin either, its everywhere! Legs, torso, arms, face, lips... But I don't think its serious enough to see a dermatologist. Its just uncomfortable.

I hate dealing with dry skin every winter. Does anyone have suggestions for keeping my skin super moisturized?

Maybe a lotion meant to last all day, and give lots of moisture would last longer (Like vaseline intensive care)

Also, maybe you could try baths with oils in the water, they may absorb better that way. I remember trying alpha keri oil in the bath, it mixes with the water (somehow) and it seemed to really penetrate into my skin, like the water...
Reply:This is going to sound crazy but I know what your dealing with. Believe it or not vaginal cream, especially vagisil can significantly help dry, burning. tight or broken skin. Nivea body mosturizer works wonders in combination. If you can get over the fact of having vaginal cream on ur face, just tell yourself its intended for skin conditions like urs.
Reply:Use cocoa butter with vitamin E after each shower! Put it on while your skin is still wet to help lock in moisture. You will be sticky so allow 5 minutes or so of time to "air dry" before getting dressed.
